Academy

Andrea Costa was a member of Golf Club Verona from 1991 to 2001, where he developed through the club’s junior programme under the guidance of Head Professional Eugenio Ridolfi. During these years, he competed in numerous junior and national tournaments, achieving several victories and earning the Brevetto Giovanile, which granted him access to Italian Golf Federation (FIG) training programmes and national championships.

He also attended a training stage in England at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, where he had the opportunity to play at the renowned St Andrews Golf Club in Scotland. In 2003, he won the selection at the Federal Technical Centre at Golf Club Le Querce (now Golf Nazionale) to gain admission to the National Golf School (SNG). After completing the initial modules, he finalised his internship by taking part in numerous promotional initiatives under the patronage of the Federazione Italiana Golf, gaining experience across different golf environments throughout Italy.

He later worked as a teaching professional at Golf Club Break Point in Pergine (Trento), where he had first been introduced to the game under Scottish professional Malcolm Harrison, and subsequently served as Head Professional at Golf Club Folgaria.

In January 2005, he moved to Melbourne, Australia, to improve his English and further develop his coaching expertise, attending various academies and clubs ranging from exclusive private facilities to public courses. After returning from Australia, he competed in Alps Tour events across Morocco, France, Austria and Italy, as well as in several pro-am tournaments organised by the PGAI. In 2007, he began teaching at Golf Club Arzaga (Brescia) at the Golf Academy directed at the time by Donato di Ponziano, the first PGA European Teaching & Learning Centre.

Meanwhile, he qualified as a fully certified Teaching Professional through the National Golf School. To further expand his technical knowledge, he attended seminars led by some of the world’s leading instructors, including Hank Haney (former coach of Tiger Woods), Chuck Cook and Denis Pugh.

In 2008, he attended the first modules of the Master in Golf Management & Tourism organised by the PGAI in Sanremo, completing the programme in 2009 with further sessions held in Florence and at Riviera Golf Club in Rimini.

In 2009, he also took part in a seminar led by Sergio Bertaina and mental coach Karl Morris. Driven by a continuous desire to refine his teaching methods, he later attended the academy of Jim McLean at the Miami Doral Golf Club.

Since 2012, he has returned to Trentino, where he continues his teaching activity at Golf Club Break Point.
